Hi,

I have migrated a database from 2000 to 2005, updated the statistic and rebuild the index.

When I run the following query
“select top 500 * from myview order by name”, it is extremely slower in 2005 than 2000. The myview simply does an inner join with 2 table. The name is varchar(50). Strangely when I remove the top 500, the time to run the query on 2000 and 2005 quite similar.

Does anyone have any idea why this is occurring, or any input, this is really puzzling me???

Thanks

We are having trouble trying to use a 255 byte key in DB2/400 DDS specs. We use Oracle VARCHAR keys 255 bytes long all the time. How do we specify a DB2/400 key to be like an Oracle VARCHAR?

Note: in an Oracle VARCHAR the trailing spaces are compressed out. In a pure 255 DDS field, apparently any data to the right of the real data inserted becomes spaces?

How do we get our Oracle Data Model requiring VARCHAR 255 keys to work on an AS/400?

Note the key works from AS/400 programs and commands, it is failing IBM DB2 ODBC client server access. We can insert from the varchar, but afterwards we cannot query back out of the DB2/400 without a terminal error.

We have several tables with what would probably have been nested columns if that feature had existed when they were created. They are simple VARCHAR2 columns occurring a fixed number of times (2 to 4). Since they are often null, the true number is variable with a fixed maximum. Although we would prefer not to restructure these tables and the applications that access them, it would be useful to access them as if the recurring columns were in nested tables. Is it possible to create a view to accomplish that?

hi all,

I have a column called WBsstartdate (storing dates), that has been created as a Varchar data type.
If I run a convert on the table, my date comes out in the right format.
(Eg: 2006-04-03 00:00:00). This is fine.
However when I run this date as an sql query in a programme in C#, and save to xml the result is 2006-04-03 00:00:00+02:00.
I need to get rid of the +02:00 part. If I check my windows date time settings, it is set to GMT+2:00. This could be the reason but changing my date time settings still returns the same value i.e:2006-04-03 00:00:00+02:00.
I need to get rid of the +02:00 part.
