We encountered a problem during our end of day batch processing. by the way to give a short background, we have an i-series model 820 running on V5R3 OS. Going back, during our end of day batch, there was an error and the details “Not authorized to access document LMAS0513.TXT in folder LNDOWN”. The immediate remedy we applied was to use WRKFLR then do option 14(authority) on LNDOWN then enroll the group profile(i.e.COUGRP)where the ID(i.e. I851S002) running the end of day batch belongs. I.D. I851S002 was already previously enrolled with *ALL authority. When COUGRP was enrolled, this was given *ALL authority level to LNDOWN. When the error was replied with R (RETRY), the same error appears as mentioned above. Since this could not be resolved, we just returned back to the original setting of ID I851S002 which has the *ALLOBJ special authority. Our objective here is to remove the *ALLOBJ from the operator id(I851S002) and link this to a group profile(COUGRP) having the special authority *IOSYSCFG, *SPLCTL, JOBCTL, and *SAVSYS. Our system auditor wants the *ALLOBJ deactivated from all operator ids. We have also change the special authority of operator id to *NONE since it is linked to group profile(COUGRP). So, can you give me a technical advice in addressing this Authorization issue on Folder LNDOWN given that group profile COUGRP and operator id I851S002 have *ALL authority level? Thanks.

Hello.

i have written an rpg/iv program that allows users to maintain certain network pc files from a greenscreen. it uses the /qntc file system to access those pc files. the problem i ran across is: unless the i5 userid and password is identical to the network userid and password, the program is unable to see the files.

i tried compiling as usrprf(*owner) with a profile whose userid and password are the same on both i5 and network, but that didn’t seem to have any effect.

i’m looking for api/api’s to change the authority the program runs under to a userid/password that has access to those network pc files, and am extremely confused. i see “set job user identity” api’s, “set profile handle” api’s, “set user profile” api’s, “profile token” api’s…… and can’t tell by their descriptions what i should use.

i’d greatly appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

thanks!!

rick metzger

DTR Industries, Inc.

with *AUTL’s in active use, what is determining that a particular user profile only has access to a particular WS device?

specifically, we have a SECOFR level user profile who can only access a single WS. She needs to be able to sign on with that profile from ‘any’ screen.

I seem to dimly remember that there used to be a value on the user profile which determined the sessions. values are set thus:
LMTCPB(*NO)
LMTDEVSSN(*NO)

signon is greeted with ‘not authorised to device’ so I’m suspecting that a specific authority needs to be granted to ?? something?? and it isn’t really anything to do with the USRPRF.
