Testing Backup tapes before use?
My company operates on an LPAR on an iSeries. Connected to the iSeries is a tape silo which we utilize as part of our backup strategy. Our backup strategy involves taking a full system save each Saturday night, and then Mon-Fri nights, we take incremental backups of our critical libraries. During the week, we take [...]

4 TB to 3 Tapes using LTO2, how can this fit on these tapes…???
Hi Team – Our production system is 4406 GB with approx 80% DASD used. The full system save takes 3 tapes using LTO2 tapes/drive. The save completes mormally with all objects saved. The incremental save is done prior to our batch. Our iSeries is housed at a data center, that manages the tapes, and also monitors our iSeries. [...]

According to BRMS there are plenty of tapes with this media type which are initialized and/or expired. Does anybody have any idea what the [...]

Backup Exec Not Reading full Capacity of Media
I have not been able to backup in over two weeks because of an issue with Backup Exec not accepting my media… These are 400GB tapes and it is limiting them to 196GB. Is there any reason for this? As it is, we backup over 250GB a night (and growing). Eventually even the 400GB tapes [...]
