I’m looking for software that we can load on our AS/400s to send their Journals to a Linux Syslog server. Does anyone know of a package that will do this? I’d prefer a freeware solution.

How can I make my syslog output from my Sonicwall Pro 3040 have a dstname= field? This field should be the URL that the user entered for tracking purposes.

What is the best free syslog tool? We used to use kiwi but it is no longer free. We need to simply monitor a syslog, write it to disk and resolve IPs in it to host names.

I have enable syslog on my AIX 5.3 box and pointed it to a central syslog server.

I am able to get logs of failed logon and su logon failure but not things like password change, file modofication or user creation etc.

i used *.debug in my syslog.conf file.

I got to know that i need to setup auditing in order to get this working.

Can anybody assist me on how to setup auditing and configure it to send logs to syslog.

I’m working in a firm specialized in providing banking
services. I’m working on a user control mechanism and as part of the mechanism
I need an auditing solution. Here are the requirements I have for my system:

Logging all the command that users enter and
preferably storing them on a per user basis (for instance the command log for
the user “navid” be stored as “navid.log”
The ability to search for incidents based on user,
command or time.
Ability to generate reports on a weekly basis.

I’ve looked into syslog, syslog-ng, ossec and open-audit
but I’m really not sure which one to go with.

Pix logging trap has been set to informational
Syslog Server – Aix 5.3

ssh logon is not being recorded in syslog
All other activities are being logged in syslog
