we are small business company with 45 computers.
we have been using Symantec Antivirus all these years on workstations & Servers.
we have microsoft exchange email server- so we use the symantec mail security for MS exchange as well.
We wanted to migrate to a newer or better solution.
1) Wanted to check with the experts here as how good are the Appliance Based Antivirus Solutions ?
2) I know that appliance based AV’s will not replace the workstations AV scanning. we would still need AV on workstations & Servers. But when we go with any appliance based AV solution at the gateway level, how much of AV maintenance on workstations/server would cut down ?

3) Any inputs from the current hardware appliance AV users ?
we were considering Barracuda Anti-Virus & AntiSpam appliance

Symantec backup exec system recovery 7 question

Hi, We backup our servers using backup exec system recovery 7 using a full/incremental recovery points. What I would like to know is how do I restore only the files changed in the incremental recovery point without besr7 also restoring from the base recovery point. The reason being is that I have created a recovery set for a file server where I created a full backup on thursday night. I restored the backup to a new server on friday which took several hours with the notion of just restoing the changes between the thusday night backup and the friday night backup which should take only a few minutes. However on running the recovery and pointing the recovery to the incremental point it seems to be recovering the whole base set as well, when all i wanted was for the server to overwrite the changes that have occured between the full and the incremental backup. any ideas? Could somebody please suggest a suitable storage system for our Enterprise Vault project. The total storage we are looking is around 100TB. We are using Symantec’s Netbackup as the Backup software. Fibre channel will be the preferred choce.

Backup and restore with Backup Exec 2010

I have a Lotus Domino 6.5 environment , clients as well. I have 2 questions , I’ll ask the first one then once I get that answer I’ll ask the next . I have recently upgraded Symantec to BE 2010. The new agent will no longer talk to the Lotus 6.5 databae , this is the Symantec remote agent for Lotus Dominos database. I am able to backup all the files in the Lotus notes directory however. In the event that I need to restore a user mailbox and associated files / documents , can I do it using just the files in that folder that are backed up ?

Symantec Endpoint protection will not update manually using the intelligent updater. We are using version 11 and upgraded from corporate v. 10. I get a error that a service is not running.

Virus disabled security updates, problem persists even after virus removed from Windows XP SP3

A virus on Windows XP SP3 disabled the ability to access updates for Microsoft security essentials, Symantec or Norton. The infection has been cleaned but the problem persists. I check host file and dns. All good.

Helpdesk Symantec antivirus

1. my senior uninstalled the backup management console in the helpdesk server box, since then: the backup keeps failing and missing to backup. Could this be caused by the untivirus being uninstalled?

2. How do i go about installing the untivirus on the box?
