Hi I am a SAP (MM and SRM) functional consultant with work ex of 2 years. I always wanted to be in project management and during my tenure as SAP consultant I even got some opportunities to work with PM team. Now, I am looking for a change in my career. So, I am pursuing PMP certification but as I do not have any proven work ex in PM, I am not sure how much it will benefit me. So, I am thinking of pursuing “SAP Certified Application Associate – Project Management with SAP ERP 6.0″ certification. Do you think this will be beneficial? Or should I stick to SRM certification and atleast land a job. (I took a break last august and moved to the US and am currently unemployed).

Other duties include help desk phone support , trainings, Content Management by cleaning data, project management, etc.

My question is, if I want to move to the next level of my career, where should I start? I don’t see many positions out there with Supplier Enablement experience. Will SAP SRM be a field I should start to focus on? If so, what should be my plan of action? Get certified first? And then what? Will a company even consider me if I have no experience working with SAP SRM, yet have a certication? Will my experience with Supplier Enablement help me? If so, how?

I am confused as you can see. Any guidance to see the light, I would be greatly appreciated!!

I currently hold the position of Supplier Enablement, Functional Consultant and I will like to know how I can expand my knowledge in this field. I realize that that this position is not a position that is on demand, so I find it very challenging to see what other employers are looking for when it comes to filling this position, if I ever find one. I don’t have any plans in leaving my current position, but do what to know what I need to do to add more experience to my belt. Will this be from getting a particular supplier enablement certification, if such certification even exists? Basically, I want to know what I must do to get recognized as a valuable consultant who has knowledge in the Supplier Enablement arena. I basically work on the implementation of e-catalogs using hosted supplier portals. I couldn’t find any thread on this subject either. I suppose that the sap srm is similar to supplier enablement? If not, in what ways is different and I am also wondering in what ways are similar. Your input on my dilemma here is much appreciated. Thank you.
