Unable to mount Information Store in System Manager?
You can create an offline Exchange server to handle this, but this takes time and diligence; however, it’s the safest way to do it. You would create a duplicate domain (dcs only), Exchange Server, and backup server to resotre the data. You can then connect a client PC to pull the data off. To do [...]

Local and Off-site backup
Exactly what sorts of things are being stored on user desktops that need to be backed up? If this is important data, you really do not want this stuff being backed up online over the net. Then again, there should not be any important data whatsoever stored on user desktops, it should all be on [...]

Sun Multipack 711 SCSI Hard Disk Array
SCSI is SCSI – it should work without issue. You may see an unknown device in Winders for the backplane. If you can’t find a “driver” it’s no big deal. It will work just fine.

First is what type of OS is the more reliable on a NAS? -> well … it depends … i would rather ask which raid-levels are more reliable :=) -> Windows-Clusters nowadays seem to be reliable, clustered fileservers in a linux cluster which internally use a cluster file system are also very good, NetApp is [...]

I’ve never heard of such… One of the premises of managing (any thing) is a maximum number of objects. I’ve seen restrictions on user storage space, [...]

Unless there are other circumstances precluding this, wouldn’t it be best to simply read in the existing file and append your additions, then rewrite it? I may be missing something here, but that is the approach I would attempt first, as it is essentially a plain text file.
