Hi, This is going to depend on how you save from your save files. If you use SAVSAVFDTA then you should be able to restore directly from your tapes, otherwise I’m afraid you’re going to have to restore your SAVF and then restore from the SAVF. You can use the sequence number to restore the [...]
The below links are clear use any of them http://exchangepedia.com/blog/2007/09/exchange-server-2007-setting-message_10.html http://exchange-genie.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-to-set-message-size-limits-in.html http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb310771(printer).aspx http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/exchange-server-2007/management-administration/exchange-2007-message-size-limits.html
If you are using SQL Server 2000, you have to create new tables broken out by year, then manually move the data into those new tables. Then modify your code to search these tables. If you are using SQL Server 2005 you can create a partitioned table, then move the data into the table. The [...]
Hi Bobc – RAID10 is definitely what’s recommended for Exchange. Have a look at: http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2004/10/11/240868.aspx for more information. David —————–Blithespirit—————— look at the IO’s of the data Raid five has 5 disk writes to raid 1 having 2. Raid 1 is faster for writes and offers better protection as well and resilience in event of [...]
By default the root account is not allowed to log into the OS remotely using ssh. You should create a basic Unix account and use that to log into the server, then use su to get yourself root permissions. ——-Blithespirit——– Try using Veeam fastscp, use this to log in and elevate priveleges to root, make [...]
If you want to make the hard drive from one machine a secondary drive in another machine, then all you need to do is unplug the drive from the old machine and install it in the new machine. If the drive is IDE (also called PATA) you may need to change the jumper on the [...]
read the log file is the unique way to verify wheter the export was successfull or not. You can write a second script to read the log file.
CA BrightStor ARCServe has a client designed for Exchange. It requires an additional license from CA. There are many other proprietary solutions ($) out there also which are probably better than ARCServe. You could also use the built in NTBACKUP program, though I don’t imagine it is too user friendly or adaptive.
I currently have to use ARCServe also, and yes it is un-user-friendly and a POS… However, it will do backups simply, once you get it setup. It will do exactly what you are describing. If the main interface is too cumbersome, just use their “Wizard”. If you have the space, you could do full backups [...]
You may need to take your portable drive apart and purchase another drive bay. first remove the drive from inside your portable bay and decide if it is an IDE or SATA drive by looking at the tag. then go out and look for a portable hard drive bay for your drive. you can propably [...]
It look like this project is pretty huge so in that case, I would probably ask to create a special subsystem with a specific shared pool insulated from the one used by QBATCH so each of them would have their individual memory and CPU specs so they wont disturb the other one while running Monster [...]
The only way to know for sure is to go to the developers and ask them. You could go and setup SQL Profiler to monitor the database, but just because there isn’t any activity on the database doesn’t mean that the are done with the database.
Get a VNP device that supports software connections and install this on the laptops. This way remote users can VPN to the main office from anywhere. I believe Watchguard and SonicWall both provide this type of setup at a reasonable price point. You could also use Citrix/Terminal Server to allow remote users to get at [...]
Assuming you mean Windows Server 2003′s built-in NTBackup utility. NTBackup doesn’t do brick level (that is, individual mailboxes) backup. Brick level backups use MAPI to connect to the Exchange Store, are terribly inefficient and <b>less than fashionable</b>. Exchange Server 2007 has better functionality, including Recovery Storage Groups for disaster recovery scenarios. Many third-party Exchange backup [...]
Check out eseutil and defrag option http://<a href=”http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328804″>support.microsoft.com/kb/328804</a> Exchange has never recalimed spaced correctly . Make sure you take a backup and have at least as much space of the db as it creates a temp 1. You may want to refer to the following reference for setting mailbox limits. Here is some additional information about mailbox and message size limits from the Exchange team.
You will want to schedule transaction log backups to occur on a regular schedule. This will keep the transaction logs from growing to large. If you don’t need to be able to do a point in time restore then you can change the database recovery option from FULL to SIMPLE.
Check your anti-virus. Look at the disk channels.
You should be able to set the permissions on a folder and “apply to files and subdirectories”, in XP it is on the advanced button at the botton of teh security tab and select “Replace permissions on all child objects with entries shown …” Alternatively, you may need to ensure you are logged on and [...]
How old is your pc? Check the speed of your USB port it shoul be 2.0 if the drive is plugged in to a 1.0 port this could cause the problem. Aaron, if you reinstalled the OS and eveyything went ok then that is not the issue. You said previously that you could still use [...]
