Are those two drives direct attached to the 525? If not, what machine are they in? A library? If they’re external, what do they use to connect to the 525?
The AS400 has remote journal capabilities that manage this type of process. But you might as well buy a D.R./H.A. package from Vision Solutions. It’ll be cheaper and faster. It might help you to look at only saving the changed objects. SAVCHGOBJ Perhaps you find that many of the files you’re saving don’t change very [...]
Currently, our configuration meets or exceeds our needs at the times. Essentially, we are at the level where our current technology is sufficient so we aren’t rethinking anything. If that changes, and there is a decent chance it might, then I’m sure it will be an issue. -Schmidtw
You can find most templates online, on the original media, or through a backup if available. Hope this helps! -Schmidtw
Erasing a tape is a task that must be done by your backup software. If you tell me what software (and version) you use, I can help you look up the answer, but it should be an option from the backup media server. Also, please note that if this tape media is WORM (write locked), [...]
Before you do anything, I would strongly recommend you obtain and read Dan Holme’s book published by Microsoft Press titled Windows Administration Productivity Solutions for IT Professionals. He covers, in detail, a very good solution for managing User Data and backs up his recommendations with strong reasoning. You did not provide enough information because Windows [...]
Create a single selecton list for the FULL job . Then create a Backup Job and use that selection list and change the backup method to full and schedule it. Create another job and use the same selection list above, but change the backup method to DIFF> The job has to use the same selection [...]
If you do not have a full backup to start the restore process with there is no way to recover the database. Once the database is deleted it is deleted. If you have an older full backup and the transaction log backups then you can restore the full backup, then apply the transaction log backups [...]
As far as my organization is concerned, we are content with virtualized desktops/servers but the storage will remain as is. As the whole virtualization thing booms and security is revved up, and the normal process of any new technology is executed, i’m sure it may be more seriously considered. -Schmidtw ****************************************************** Our use of virtualization [...]
The windows may failed to assign the correct letter to the drive. Right click on My computer select Manage, from the right side list pane select disk management. On the pendrive letter right click and select change the drive letters and paths. Then try assigning another letter.
Zoning in the fabric is typically done to allow specific devices access to specific ports on the storage. For example Server 1, Port 1 will have access to Port3 and 7 on the SAN. This is how the fabric knows that the servers have access to which ports to ensure that the server is talking [...]
You will need to install Windows on the machine and install the backup software. You can then restore the backup from the IOMEGA drive.
Sounds like you are trying to install a 64bit program on a 32bit OS. Or an Itanium program on an x64 OS. Check with the software vendor and make sure you have the correct platform.
Since no one else answered, I’ll go ahead and do so. 1. SQL does everything in 8k pages which are grouped together into 64k extents. All reads and writes to the disks are done one extent at a time. 2. I’m not sure where that formula came from. Everything I’ve read from the storage vendors [...]
The power supplies used in PC’s are switching power supplies. This means they need a load (such as your HD’s) in order to work properly. I’ve used old PC power supplies to operate a variety of devices without a problem. The only concern I would have in your case would be if you are using [...]

I think there is no built in mechanism for backing up a single mailbox in Exchange 2003. Have a look at the following articles, maybe they can help you. How to recover or to restore a single mailbox in Exchange Server 2003 Back Up Mailbox and Public Folder Databases Hope this helps.
On PC drives the typical process is to delete all files, write random data to the drive and then encrypt the drive. This will make any old data unrecoverable. I’m not sure if the AS/400 has this capability but the same process should work on any platform. ********************************************** Can this hard drive be connected to [...]
You might want to try just restarting the system, If it is a server or some other crucial part of the network, choose a time such as evening or weekend when the network won’t miss it. Something else that would help: Additional information such as Type of Operating system Name of Backup software Type of [...]
If you’re talking about mailbox size being at 78 MB, this is simply because the users haven’t yet filled their 300 MB quota. If you’re talking about users getting blocked from sending at 78 MB then a per-user quota must be set on the account in Active Directory … double-check that. David
