• Read USB hard drive on NAS box from Windows 7

I have to format a USB hard drive to EXT3 so I can use it with a Linksys NAS box. But I can't read the HD when it's unplugged from the NAS and plug it into my Windows 7 computer. Is there a way to read it? My computer accesses the NAS over a wireless connection. Thank you.

I have my NAS (Synology DS413) and three hard disks. I need to check if everything is okay with the disks before I set up RAID / migrate all of my data. But here's the problem: I don't have any PCs, only notebooks. Is there a way to do this with NAS firmware? Also, what tests should I run too?

We're preparing to install a new server on SQL Server 2008. Here's our question: What would you recommend - one server with RAID 10 or all the files on a NAS? Or should we just use iSCSI? The new server has about 4 GB of RAM and the database file has 2 GB. What's the best option for us?
