iseries backup solution,
Could you be a little more specific on what you want? The Iseries can be backed up either by command, a command structured utility like BRMS or a thrid party vendor backup utility like Robot save. If you are looking for one vendor to back up UNIX and Iseries data I’m not sure. I would [...]

Hitachi NSC55/Sun StorEdge 9985
Sun co-brands HDS hardware so it’s the same hardware and microcode as HDS equipment. The main difference is who supports the box. If you get a Sun box and it’s open systems, you’ll be working with Sun’s tech support. Sun can bring in HDS on support issues as needed, but this must be initiated by [...]

file storage
Hi, if I read word to word, I understand you hope to save space in the shared folder. if this is true, I have no idea. But if idea is to avoid running untrusted exe, just remove execution right on these folder. By this way, saved exe becomes useless, and users will not put the [...]

how can an application disable/enable a user account in active directory??
fingerprint reader is simply one type of authentication method, like a password/passphrase, a digital token or CAC card. It’s not the reader which will enable or disable the account, but the directory services behind the authentication process (Actve Directory, RADIUS, NDS, etc…). Look at your authentication server to perform some action upon login via biometric [...]

user password auditing
I have never used this utility but I would say you are approaching the problem from the wrong angle. I would change the Password Requirement to Strong Password requirements. More that 8 Charectors and Must use numbers and Capitals (special charectors like !@#$%^&*() never hurt either.) I would then Set all accounts to require a [...]

Do you want anyone to access the internet from this PC? if not, you can set the permissions for iexplore.exe to allow only users you want. mind you, if this is the case they won’t be able to view any html files at all, and they can’t use IE to view .jpg files either. Sometimes [...]

HBA compatibility
Yes, it definitely still needs to be tested with the disk array. If the HBA works with the switch, then that just means that they both support the same low level protocals and voltage levels – that’s about it. You’d expect it to “just work”. But when it comes to actually transferring commands and data, [...]

Windows 2000 Active Directory customizer
Well for the first one: Active directory user accounts properties can allow you to specify which computers a user can log into. As far as keeping track of login duration , you can audit logon and logoff events for each user so you can see when they logon and logoff. For the autoshutdown, you might [...]

“Security Explorer” from ScriptLogic. This is an excellent GUI and command line ACL tool. We use it quite a bit. It’s well worth the $$$ to manage Windows file permissions.

ECPI college…good or bad
Hey TripleHHH, LOTS of companies view military training as the equivalent to holding a degree, however having that piece of paper goes even further (and pays more). I have not had direct experience with that college, but look for ones that off the Cisco Academy (http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/netacad/academy/) and that accepts military credits as well. Good luck! [...]

Yes, it is possible. Depending on how you want to access the data there are several ways to address this. You will probably be using javascript to create the report based on access to the data in the Domino database. Which version of Domino is it ? R5.x or D6.x?

Help developing backup strategy for large data volumes
You should use Ultra 320 SCSI adapters and no more than two tape drives per chain. If you can afford it, change to fibre channel drives and upgrade to netbackup. The FC drives will give you less of a bottleneck and the Netbackup will allow you to make better use of multiple tape drives.
