The server has two ethernet ports but the second router is in another building and I don’t want to have to run a second line to it. Any suggestions?

I have a I couple of rackmount servers that have Raid f drives set up and running ESXi 4.1 I am trying not to purchase a NAS as this is a pretty small scale project. Anyone have experience using a software solution to make the DAS drives in the servers look like a NAS that both server can see. I was thinking I could run a Storage management SW in a VM on each server the use virtualized storage plugin to allow all the storage to look contigous. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi there

i have a question about my Nas drive. i have had this drive over 2yrs and have stored all my music and films on it, my question is, the software or operating system thats on it is sooo slow!

now when i take the hard drive out of the nas and put it in my PC, it shows 2 partitions, 1st partition shows linux files (im guessing the main OS for the NAS) 2nd is the files ive stored on there music etc.

is there any way i can take the main os off and install my own linux distro thats quicker? so in theory im taking out the 1st partition and putting my own software on?

is this posible?

thanks peeps
