Why can’t I disable ActiveSync on resource mailboxes in Exchange 2010? I have tried through EMC and by running the PS command. Get the same error that this cannot be done on a resource type mailbox. Is there a workaround?

Mix luns from 300 and 146gb drives when provisioning storage capacity

We need to add capacity to our EMC DMX4 which currently has 146 and 300gb 15k drives. The 146gb drives may be difficult to get so my questions is given todays technology with drive IOPS, should it be a concern if I need to expand the amount of disk to an existing host that currently has 146gb drives with luns from some 300gb drives? Should mixing luns assigned to a host from diffenernt drive geometries be a problem for relatively high IO applications of mixed random reads and writes?

Is anyone using EMC’s Invista storage virtualization appliance?

I’ve heard rumors that Invista is no longer being updated, but I was wondering if anyone’s actually using it? Have any insight as to its pros/cons or alternatives if it’s being phased out? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

We’re a large TSM shop. But we also have a large distributed environment where we’ve recently implemented EMC’s Avamar backup solution. We’re now being asked to look at the TCO of replacing TSM with Avamar in our datacenter environment. We’re only looking at our VMware and NAS areas right now. My question is, who out there has any experience with Avamar in a large datacenter environment? Our total storage count in our enteprise datacenter(s) is over 500 TB. My concern is the cost and ability to scale of an Avamar solution. We are a large AIX-Linux-Windows shop running predominantly on IBM hardware.

I have a permanent spare and dynamic spares are available in the symmetrix array when a disk is going to fail the data available in the failed disk will be copied to permanent or dynamic spare? How the disk choose whether the data has to be copied to permanent or dynamic spare?
