I need to achive mail files to a CD’s intead of a server, what is the proper way to do it? and there is any protocol to look it after moved into the CD’s?

i use apricorn to clone and backup. i switchout hard drives every 6mos (500gb)
what happens if i don’t have lap top any longer(stolen) or vgcard failure, how can i access photos and applications. i have accessed photos via backup but photos can only be opened one at a time(opencloseopennew). is there a better way to access photos aka via slideshow.
what are the true differences between cloned and backupped hard drives?
btw i have tried virtual box but ran into “technical difficulties”= i like smart media , i am thinking of buying a new wind 7 machine for that purpose.

Retrieving missing Excel data

I had an excel file with 10 worksheets on it. I opened the file yesterday and found the whole 10 worksheets missing from the file. What could have caused it and is there a way to retrieve this data back to the file?

I want to copy all my MSWord documents to a CD. The computer insists that they are not my documents, but instead belong to HP Administrator, and tells me to contact my administrator. This is my computer, I am the administrator. How do I back up my files before my computer dies?

Standby server back-up process

Assuming that I am in a situation where a primary server is backed-up by a standby server that is testing the pluse beat of the primary. From the instant the backup senses the that the primary server is no longer functioning, how long would you expect it would take for the the backup to be up and running in the sense that it is doing what the primary was doing. Would the time be approximately the same as if the backup was one of a series of servers that are part of a cluster. Jim4522
