Backup Exec 12.5 - exchange database backup time

Backup Exec 12.5 is taking few hours to backup Exchange database alone. Is there a way to speed this up? All other files are being backed up very quickly. Application is set to backup individual mailboxes. Software/Hardware used: Backup Exec 12.5
