packed & zoned both are used for numeric data types in rpg but if packed occupies 1 byte and zoned occupied 2 bytes then why don’t we use packed?

Adobe Internet Flash settings

Does anyone know, other than the settings manager that you bring up when you right click on a flash file, where to set the storage amount for flash files?
Some of our users updated thier flash, I have changed the registry so it doesn’t happen again. But the new version goes down to 10k for local storage and we use an app that we developed that is 4.5 mb and we want to set the default storage amount for all users to be 10mb.
Is there a reg setting or soemthing that I can set that with.
I don’t really want to deploy flash and use the .mmc file if I dont have to.

High capacity, off-site data storage needs

I am trying to find who sells one or more of three types of high capacity storage systems. The first is to store 200 terabytes of security videos with the ability to retrieve a particular indexed video quickly. The second is a very high canacity RAID 5 storage system for off-site data storage of critical data for banks, government tax files, etc. The third system is also for off-site data storage that can grow to a petabyte size for general public storage of files. Your help in identifying suppliers for these will be greatly appreciated.

I have a EMC clarion array at my primary site and one at my secondary site the distance is roughly 15 miles. I am using a product called Mirror ASync. which is a EMC array based replication tool. I have a RTO of 30 minutes. data rate of change is aprox. 50 GB per day how much bandwidth should I buy?
Can you help me?

I am taking up responsibility as a capacity planner.

Currently, I have created automated reports that can tell me the exact usage of each tier and host for all our boxes. This data is obtained and stored every day.

Can you share how I can use the data to analyse utilisation and predict the future growth in a better manner? Putting it the other way, what would be typical questions I would need to answer to make the most of the data that I have.

Or what would typical capacity analysis and reporting look like…?

I am new to storage systems, currently gathering information on setting up a storage systems. I know the concepts but am unable to relate how will a storage system be setup based on Allocation, zoning, masking and mapping. Please help.

Nowadays, storage capacity requirement is growing rapidly. However I don’t think that the answer to this demand in storage capacity is to keep adding storage.

Rather, a comprehensive storage assessment is required at a certain point in time. This will enable a better decision making in future storage procurements and will give a clear idea about what you have already in hand.

The assessment will also help in restructuring the data which in turn could free up or optimise your existing storage for a better performance.

The purpose of my post is to know if anybody of you has gone through such exercice and how did it work. I also want to get any information possible to trigger a similar initiative within my environment in order to identify where it is best to invest.

Any idea? Any document? Any resource? Any website?
