AS/400 STARTUP timing issues

I’ve had more issues in 7.1 with timing and adding delays to insure subsystems or TCPIP are up before proceeding to the next step in the start up program. Has anyone ever used APIs to insure things are up instead of just adding larger delays, making the time till the system is available longer?

Interactive Indicator goes off on startup using Client Access running thru 5250 HMC

I need some assistance. I have a large iseries that has an issues with the Interactive Indicator on Startup.

let me explain, When the system is started out of restricted state a program is called. While comming up the Interactive light or the “X” is present indicating the interactive session is running. However, if a message comes on, you must do a + 6 to see the error msg. When you hit to return to the active session The “X” or the “ II “ is no longer on. At this stage you have no idea if the job is still running or not. Anybody got some ideas?

BIOS settings causing immediate sleep mode at startup?

My monitor goes to sleep immediately when I turn on the computer not allowing time to start in safe mode or the get to the settings to change the sleep mode, how can I fix this problem?
