I am studying for the CNA 050-686 exam and trying to learn how to calculate effective rights. According to my exam cram study guide the formula is:

Group Rights + Individual Rights – Any IRF’s along the way = Effective Rights.

Here’s Scenario 1: If Alexandra has been granted the RWCEMFA trustee assignment to the certification directory and has been granted the RWCF trustee assignment to the Effrghts.txt file, what are her effective rights at each level of the file system? The book contains the answer but I don’t understand how effective rights were assigned.

Scenario 2: Jill has been granted RWCEFA individual trustee assignment to the Certification directory. As a member of the trainer group, she has been granted the WCEM assignment to the NW65CNA directory. In the FileSyst directory, Jill is granted an individual assignment of S, whereas in Effrghts.txt. the trainers are granted a new group assignment of RF. What are Jill’s effective rights at each level of the file system? Please explain in the simplest terms.

I would really appreciate your help. Thanks for listening
