Hi team,

This is the first time i registered in such communities. I have a problem with SSAS. We planned for a migration from 2005 to sql 2008 which also involves cubes. I am trying to point out SSAS 2005 cubes to 2008 sql server. Is it possible to do this way or do I need to first migrate the cubes to 2008 and only then point them to 2008 server.

Please try to put in your suggestions. Your help is greatly appreciated.

In SQL Server Analysis Services, can I change the date fields from (yyyy-mm-dd) to (dd-mm-yyyy) without turning the date field into varchar?

Monitor SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services Cubes

I am working in a BI role and have some ancient AS2000 cubes that are used across the organisation. Only trouble is no-one is exactly sure who uses them daily. How can i monitor which cubes are being accessed by whom?

Doesnt seem that profiler picks up AS transactions so im kinda stuck how to do this,….

Transform Data task properties not opening.

In my analysis manager, data transformation packages, i open a package and try to open the properties of Transform Data task. Whenever i am trying to open the properties the analysis managergot hungs.l The properties not opening. I am using MS SQL server 2000.

Hi
I want to enable a trace on analysis services
Filter only the errors and notifications
log them in a table and send a mail.

I am right now doing using sql profiler, but i dont want to do this using profiler as i have to log on the server continuously.
I need to do this in T-sql like an SP or a job etc..

please let me know if there is a better solution to track and send an email on analysis services.(I have 100′s of cubes, so i cant enable error configuration on each cube.)

hi, i am a new devy in SSAS world. I sucessfully created a cube. I am able to browse the cube. In the browse window i drag n drop the measure and dimensions to see a expected result set. I want to know where i can see the MDX query for the result set?

Help needed for date dimension which is not rolled up properly.

I’m new to SSAS and I have dim_date table. Which have DateKey which is int and primary key (Eg data 19010101, 19010102 etc.,), date which is datetime(eg: 1901-01-02 00:00:00Z), year – smallint(Eg: 1901), month -tinyint(Eg: 01), monthname -varchar(January), day -tinyint (Eg: 1), dayname – Varchar (Eg: Tuesday), quarter -int(Eg: 1)
I build a dimension using this table. I selected datekey, date, month, quarter and year as my attributes. I also created the attribute relation ships as quarter-year, month-quarter, date-month like that. when I created a hierarchy like below. Year- Quarter- Month- Date. But my hierarchy data is not rolled up properly. For example year 2079 have 4 th quarter. All the dates from the 4th quarter of years 1901 till 2079 rolled up under 2079. Can somebody help me why it is happening like that? Your help is greately appreciated.

Is there anyone out there that is working or has worked with a Microsoft back-end (SQL SVR 2005, SSIS, SSAS) and a Cognos front end ? What is your experience with this ?
