SQL server backup sqlvdi.dll not loaded into SQL memory

We have receiving SQLVDI.dll error when we try to take the SQL backup on EMC Networker.We checked the sqlvdi status as suggested in http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/sqlbackupsim . But we have the status in simulator that [em]“VDI dll not loaded into SQL Memory yet” .[/em]We register the vdi dll manually after stopping the SQL service. But it doesn’t resolve the issue.

Server version: Windows server 2003 Standard SP2 SQL Version: SQL 2008 Enterprise Edition SP3 Please help me to fix this issue.

Replication and run backups

I am running SQL 2008 with replication between 2 locations. Will the running of backups impact the replication process. Can I run both on the same database?

I newbie and I need help here.

We are doing a new MS SQL and BI setup for our developers here.

We have a team of 12 developers here doing different projects. We have one server with MS SQL being installed. This single MS SQL will be setup with each individual database for the projects that the 12 person will be doing.

We plan have all the 12 developers connect to their database in this server and develop their ssis packages in their local PCs. We want to restrict them to be able to access the packages that belongs to their projects only.

Also after deployment where the packages are scheduled to run under job agent, we want to restrict each 12 developers to be able to rerun only their on jobs when their job fails. We want to prohibit them from running the jobs that belongs to others.

I think this is a pretty common organization structure with a team of developers. However I have no experience how we should structure and control our MS SQL and the BID.

I would appreciate if you can advice. Our team has been thinking of the best solution but I guess we are confuse now.

Please help.

hi,

running sql2008. i have the following two temp tables. the first is just all web service errors for a date range. the second is simply 20 rows that contain values of types of web service errors.

–temp tbl #1 select [date],[err],[srv],[e1],[e2] into #tblExcept from netlog where [err] like ‘%web service%’ and convert(char(10),[date],120) >= @startDate and convert(char(10),[date],120) <= @endDate order by [date]

–temp tbl #2 create table #tblWSerr (errName nvarchar(255)); insert into #tblWSerr values (‘Error connecting’), (‘server down’), (‘mainframe’), (‘invalid call’), . . . . (‘request aborted’);

i need to execute 3 queries: 1) return a count for each occurrence of records in tbl #2 as in tbl1. 2) do the opposite of query #1, and 3) count total number of records returns by #2.

1)the first is below which returns a count of each web service error in tbl #1 and that works perfectly:

select t2.errName as ‘Err Msg’,count(t1.[message]) as ‘Count’ from #tblExcept t1,#tblWSerr t2 where t1.[message] like ‘%’ + t2.errName + ‘%’ group by t2.errName

2) have tried many different ways by using other operators and not exists, in, joins, or just flipping the above query by using “not like” (see below), but results are of course wrong:

select t1.[Message],t2.errName as ‘Err Msg’,count(t1.[message]) as ‘Count’ from #tblWebSvcExcept t1,#tblWSerr t2 where t1.[message] not like ‘%’ + t2.errName + ‘% group by t1.[message]

questions: what query can i use to return a count of all occurences NOT in tbl2 (opposite of #1)?
