I have installed Studio Express on my system but I am not able to start with it. I am not able to connect to the server. Error-40 and Error-26 is coming.What is the procedure to connect?

Hi,

Is it worthwhile to schedule optimisation job (update stats and rebuild index) on another server so it can be run on a database that was created on SQL Server 2005 Express from an application installation?

I know it is probably a good idea to atleast change the autogrowth setting from 1MB but what about the weekly database optimisation jobs?

Join for merging records

I’m trying to figure out what the best type of join I could use in TSQL for merging records in about 6 tables where there is a match. So I have 6 different tables where there are many matching records. So I figured that I would use a left join in my first join, keep those records that were matched and then seek to join the unmatched records from my first join to my next table and vice versa. Can someone please help? Here is an example of what I’m writing but I’m sure I’m doing something wrong as I get no results. I’m thinking I need parenthesis somewhere here:

SELECT T.*

FROM TABLE1 T

LEFT OUTER JOIN TABLE2 T2

ON T.KEY=T2.KEY

INNER JOIN TABLE3 T3

ON T.KEY=T3.KEY

WHERE T.KEY IS NULL

SQL Server 2005 Express SP3 Memory Usage

Upon Startup of my system the sqlwriter process immediately grabs 700mb of RAM and holds it. As I use the SQL Server to do different thing the memory usage grows and causes the memory on my system to decline. The SQL Server never releases the memory and it causes my system to respond slowly. I fear that if left unchecked it might cause the system to freeze.

but the above procedures are not returning any string value but are returning int value by default. the calling code in vc#.net is:

Error when insertin.g data into SQL table

I’m using SQL Server 2005 Express edition as the Database and Microsoft VB.NET 2005 as the programming language for my project. At the moment I’m having a problem of inserting data into one of the tables in my database through my VB.NET application. I did successfully inserted data through my application to 5 tables in my database. But in this particular table only I get the error: “String or binary data would be turncated. The Statement has been terminated”. This message is coming from the .NET SqlClient data provider. I then tried to insert the same data through SQL server Management Studio query editor and it worked without any problems. What might be the reason for this problem?

I also re-ran the other parts of my application where I successfully inserted data into the 5 tables and they worked fine. Please help!!!!

I’m julien , beginner in visual studio 2008 using c# language

I Have this task that I seem to be stuck in !

I’ve created a database using sql server express 2005 of 4 tables :”BOOKS , AUTHORS , CATEGORIES and PUBLISHERS “.

I’ve connected this database to my gridview in visual studio , it shows me all the books like this : ” BOOK publisher , TITLE, CATEGORY ”

the problem is that my task is to show what every author has in terms of books .
and I cant figure out how to do that !!!!

can u tell me if any of this code that I’m using is helpfull or not ???

I have microsoft sql express installed on one computer running on windows authentication.

I am trying to access the tables in one of the databases on it from another computer.

When i enter the server ip and use windows authentication, it logs in successfully. and i am able to view the databases on the other pc. however i am only able to view system tables. and not the ones i want (which are user tables).

can anyone help? I would be grateful. i have been stuck on this for days and i’ve searched every possible site on the internet. thanks in advance!

Crystal Reports in Web application with SQL Server 2005 Express

i want to create crystal report in asp.net 2.0 web application with sql server 2005 express edition. now the name of my database which i have created its name is Database.mdf.
now whenever i expert database i can find my server name but in the dropdownlist of database i can`t find my database name. there is master,model,msdb, tempdb in the dropdowmlist list of database but i can`t find Database.mdf which is my database. what should i have to do????
plz help me…
