Hi, I have a customer that is planning on moving to new hardware and performing a SQL upgrade (2000->2005). I know that our application (FileNet Image Services) is sensitive to what we refer to as an “orphaned” database. Our app stops working if a database is simply detached/attached to another server because it loses that link between the users in the database and the users in SQL Security. Once that happens, that users cannot simply be recreated in Security-Logins. Because of internal IDs the users no longer match and our app stops working.

Any ideas to get around this?

Hi,

I am new to Database Technology and was asked to upgrade from MS SQL Server 2000 to 2005.

I followed the procedure regarding the upgration found in one of the posts.THe Upgrade advisor says “SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components are required to edit DTS packages” and In how to resolve this we were asked to install “sqlserver2005_dts.msi” but even after instaling it and running the upgrade advisor it shows the same error.

I also got the error “SQL Server 2000 Meta Data Services packages are not supported”.In order to fix this error, It had something to do with using the Enterprise Manager but i am not able to open it.It shows an error ” The procedure entry point could not be located in DLL SEMSFC.DLL

Can you please help me in this regard,on how to go about these errors.

Thank You,
Swetha.
