Monitoring SMART hard drive status via Active Directory
Can we monitor SMART hard drive status via Active Directory or via SpiceWorks to know before a potential hard drive failure? How would this work. Client machines are XP and 7.

What are the prerequisites for installing Spiceworks on our network? What type of account do I need to give it for scanning? Is it safe? How can I audit what the application is really doing for review?

Spiceworks
I have been testing with spiceworks (www.spiceworks.com)to do workstation inventory and discovery. It has been doing a great job of finding “Mystery” machines. (machines that are not part of the domain) Does anyone have any experience with it or can reccomend something similar?
