Is there an inherent issue with caller ID when using Asterisk as the SIP server?

Is there an inherent issue with caller ID when using Asterisk as the SIP server? My caller ID does not show the identity of the original outside caller, but one associated with an inside transfer point. Are there any special settings in Asterisk that need to be configured?
