One of the servers I manage reports a health problem wich i discovered on a routine led-status inspection. This is something i do regularly so this problem is reasonbly fresh.

Opon pulling it out of its rack and opening it I quickly found the SB led on the system board glowing amber therefore beeing a problem with whatever it is that this led indicates.

There is my problem. I seem te fail to find the purpose of this LED and what it means when its glowing amber.

The manual, wich also has a led schematic like the one on lid of the server, does not mention it and even calling HP themselves i could not gain more information about this.

Using Google I don’t find a lot of usefull links either. Most refer do lost/deleted documents, the same led-schematic and some totally unrelated websites.

I found two results that are of interest, one solved the same problem by replacing RAM and another one describes the LED’s purpose as reporting bit corrections, whatever this precisely is. Memory is therefore prime suspect but before i take it down to replace it i’d like to be somewhat sure this actually is it.

Is there anyone who out of experience, or just knowning the facts, that can tell me exactly the purpose of the SB led is?
