  • SAVSYS Message Log

We ran a SAVSYS by doing Go SAVE and then option 22. A message needing a reply came up and was replied to. We thought the message would be saved and appear in the log but we can't find it now. Is there a separate log for a SAVSYS? If so, where can I find it?

  • Transfering (save/restore) job scheduler from one AS400 to another

Other than a SAVSYS, which I believe saves the native job scheduler which can subsequently be restored, is there a way to simply save and then restore (on a different AS400) all the entries on the job scheduler on their own?

  • Loading from one I515 to another

We have 2 I515 systems. One is fully configured and in use. The second is as IBM shipped it with the basic operating system etc. Can I use my SAVSYS and regular saves to load the second system??? There could be a twist in that the second system may have a different primary language.

  • Increasingly lengthy SAVSYS times

Our time required for SAVSYS is growing, and we have not had much success with IBM on getting answers on why and how to fix. We orginally thought the bulk of the time was with the SAVSECDTA, and then discovered user profiles owning large numbers of objects - most being scanned images. However, the...

  • SAVSYS vs Daily Backups

My question is about the AS/400 and SAVSYS. Is it true that a daily backup process backs-up everything that has changed since the last SAVSYS? I’m being told that all changes (including data, programs and patches) are backed up as part of the daily backup. They also tell me that the daily backup...
