I have a small co. with a point to point wireless grid. I handle off site monitoring of gas nad oil flow. I have been overlaping my grid with new locations, and more to come. So I have been looking into new wireless Sys. I have made the choice to use All-In-One?360 Multi-Band/Multi-Mode Antenna WiMAX Ready. It will take a few to replace my hole grid. Now with my new antennas in place I have full cover of about 30 miles. Trying to stay with new techknowledge I will be useing 802.11 or 801.16. This will all so give me a chance to start up a WISP. So my question is…What do I need to start up? and what tpye should I use? If any could help me with this first step it would help me get started Faster.
Thank You,

This is the real commercial problem face by my company. Well, the reason I ask this problem is I salute and respect all of you as I believe all of you are as good as network solution company out there, or even better!!

Lets me rephrase the entire problem again.

Company expand so fast that the IT infrastructure is not fast enough to cater high volume of traffic; the initial design is not scalable. The number of new branch offices setup caused the company pay a high price in the leased line communication.
Salesman and management staffs dial into company networks via 56K modem to access the database server and update the sale order. All the branch offices access the internet via HQ and download email via the external POP3 email server.
Plan to revamp their IT infrastructure and reduce the leased line access cost. Here are some of the feedbacks consolidated from the various country managers and local salesman.
1) The email downloading and sending is very slow. They receive a lot of spam email this caused their individual mailbox quota use up very fast.
2) The sales and marketing departments need to access the internet to search for latest news and market trends. But the internet speed is very slow. These people are irritated by spywares and popup often.
3) The File transfer and Database access is very slow even in the local area networks.

I decided to put the real network cum equipment diagram of my current company as I believe this will at least give INSIGHT in solving the problem.

Please visit the website http://www.hgym.photosite.com
for the diagrams which are network diagram and equipment diagram.

Now I plan to improve the IT infrastructure to cater for future expansion up to 10 countries. SAP will be implement to automate the overall company operation. Also expect 3rd party to access their server to submit and view sale order.

I also plan to redesign the network so that it is high available, scalable and secure.

Any suggestion and opinion? What is your comment after looking at my network and its insfrastructure (from the diagrams on http://www.hgym.photosite.com )
Any improving needed?

My email is hunkgym@yahoo.com Of course you can reply here, preferable :>

Thanks again for your opinion!! Thank You!!

If someone wanted to increase the pipe, would they go from a T1 to a T3 or is that over kill? If I did 2 T1′s, how does that work with the current configuration with one T1 and one router that it connects to?

Thanks,

I’m a CIO for a company with 150 employees, and I’m considering outsourcing a good portion of our IT support and maintenance to a third party to cut our expenses. I met with a sales rep from Hydra Network last week after they had done a SAN implementation for us through another partner, and am really suspicious about their ability to offer the SLA they claim to be able to offer, at the rates they are charging (they are 20-50% lower than any other national provider solutions we’ve investigated. I found one cheaper local offer, but we need a provider who can handle our branch offices in 3 states). They seemed to do a great job with the SAN work, but now we are looking for them to handle our general IT help desk and provide remote support to our end users, as well as supplement our onsite staff as needed. We might also turn over the management of 2 or 3 servers. What i want to know is, has anyone or is anyone using any of their services and can tell me if they are as good as they sound? Also, they say they can save us huge money on our tech purchases (they are a Dell Reseller), but they don’t have an online store. Does anyone understand how that works? Any feedback is much appreciated (before i go and layoff 3 support techs and sign a year contract)!

Thanks, Jay

Ie we need help with the process to arrive at answers to questions such as:

What infrastructure elements do I need to design and provision so that application X has a guaranteed uptime of 99.999%, a subsecond transaction time with 10.000 simultaneous users, in a three tier architecture based on oracle, weblogic and apache, with f5 loadbalancing and checkpoint firewalls?
