My name is Barry Novack I am with CBE Tex Solutions Consultants. We are representatives of The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation or S.P.J.A. We are trying to improve their wireless capabilities at the LA Convention Center. They would like to upgrade to newer equipment and be able to upload, and change events, or programs in real time to their Anime website, during the conference. However, due to topology setup and building restrictions, the company doesn’t have a method in place, that meets their expectations. They also want to implement RFID in order to provide more detailed demographic information, for their industry. Their goals: are to upgrade to newer equipment that is more efficient, save money and time on resources, if possible have hot spots during conferences, and events for attendees, and improve throughput and performance. If you could give us any input from you companies experience as to what hardware is needed and required, to work with RFID, what standard of 802.11 would you recommend with estimation on how much you think it would cost? It would have to support 674 staff members. The convention center had very think re-enforce concrete walls that are running two T1 lines between two buildings. One Ti line is used for registration, the other line is used for Internet access for their staff members to communicate on the Internet. We have been trying to get blueprints, or schematics of the two building and their dimensions, from S.P.J.A with no luck so far. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks Barry Novack Cell 619 991-9108

This request for help was originally submitted to the Research Assistant on WhatIs.com.

I am looking into using RFID tags to track mobile devices (laptops, Blackberrys PDA’s etc) that my org gives to employee into and out of multiple campus and satellite locations.

My goal is to remove the manual process of issuing laptop cards that security manually checks on exiting a building and automate the process.

The idea is to also link to the Identity and Access management portal in terms of it being something that you can request from the catalogue of services.
