I have an HP7600 printer on a remote share running XP. The laptop running Win7, connects to the remote share, recognizes the printer as a HP7600 but cannot find the built in Windows 7 driver and asks for an .inf file.

If I hook up the printer directly to the WIN7 usb port, it installs fine.

How do I get the Win7 machine to pop up the printer selection dialog after it finds the printer, OR if I install the printer locally on the USB port, how do I redirect the port to the printer share?

We have a Windows 2003 Standard SP2 server that we remote into. This server runs reports that pull it’s formating in from the default printer setting. When we remote in, the default printer gets mapped to the client. that thorws the report format off. I want to either stop that, via a reg setting on the client, or server. We have Terminal server running, but I am am not sure as to how to block it from mapping to the remote users printer. To be clear, stopping all remote client printer mapping viz RDC is fine, we dont use that function. We run XP pro SP3 or Windows 7.

I have a site in Wisconsin (we’re in New Jersey) that can connect to our AS/400 via emulation with no problem. When I create outq with the correct IP address all I receive for the 1 page sample is the status hanging at ‘SND’. We have a site in Illinois with the exact same problem. I see no errors, but no print outs either.

We have 2 HP 2430tn printers here configured the same way (different ip addresses of course) and both work perfectly. It was my attempt to memic the logic from the 2 HP 2430tn printer to work at both site, but no luck up to this point. H-E-L-P.

Thank You,
