Not sure if this apply to registry or GPO or to both but I would like to lock anyone from saving file/s locally but okay to save file/s to USB external storage. Thanks

Can we monitor users’ registries? Can we be notified when and if workstations and servers registries are modified? We are using Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008.

Where are the registry files stored in Windows 2003? Can they be modified offline with a boot disk? Can we backup and restore them offline as well? If so is this a security issue? Can someone inject a registry entry with a username and password?

my registry has 32 errors from missing TypeLib, missing help, Empty keys, incorrect File Extentions,incorrect File Associations the lot I need directions as to where to find the knowledge to fix each one. Please advise me on how to proceed.

Task Scheduler – task creation error on Windows 2008 Server x64

Hi,

I have a problem with Task Scheduler on my Windows 2008 x64 Server.

The main problem is if I try to create a tasks from Task Scheduler, when the dropdown box for ‘Configure for’ is selected as “Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000″ – If this is selected, when I press OK to create the task an error pops up “An error has occurred for task ‘name’, The following error was reported: 2148073494″ and the task is not created.

If I select the ‘Configure For’ box as “Windows 2008, Windows Vista” it creates fine.

Why this is a problem is I also can’t create scheduled tasks from any programs – ViceVersa or Sophos – both report permissions errors when creating the task.

I’m guessing this could be due to invalid registry permissions somewhere but I can’t ‘see’ anything wrong…

Any ideas are most welcome.

I have a company computer and I want upgrade to a new computer. How can I copy the security and logon portions of the registry of the old computer to the registry of the new computer so that I can log on to the network with the new computer?
