Hello everybody. I am studying about Hard RAID. I want to backup RAID configuration and save it to my USB or FDD, so how to do it? Is RAID configuration only in RAID card?

What is the difference between a raid 1, raid 0 and a raid 10? Which is optimal for a 5 1tb drives? The data will be file storage and we can sacrifice 1tb for parity

Hello, What are the best practices of RAID configuration of HDS 9960 storage and Oracle. Currently we are using now Mirroring RIAD 1+0 with 4 disks (2+2). will the second option of Mirroring 4+4 give us better performance than 2+2 disks? Thanks in advance. P.S. the Oracle instance is OLTP.

The specific pieces of info I am looking for are default settings for: Disk Order Raid 5 Parity Distribution, Parity Length, Controller-reserved sector information (Reserved from Start sector), Not sure if it makes a difference but it was originally a 4 Disk raid 5, but later RAID was expanded with a 5th disk)

Installed two 500GB western digital hard drives and loaded WIndows 7. When I configured them for RAID, Windows 7 wouldn’t boot. Tells me disk error, hit any key. Hit the key and tells me bootmgr is missing. Computer worked before the RAID conffiguration but now won’t boot, won’t repair, won’t do anything.

With respect to the tradeoff between redundancy vs. data protection, what recommendations can you make on RAID levels? Is it completely dependent on the environment, or are there clear advantages to using a RAID 5 over RAID 3, etc.?
