I wanted to perform a quick P2V migration of an old Server 2000 box that runs a couple of undocumented automated processes like file transfers.

P2V utilities like Disk2VHD utilize the Shadow copy services within windows and the copy process fails because VSS is not available in server 2000.

We’re using Hyper-V at this location and not sure if anyone has any recomendations here? (I could try to image the server using Ghost or Clonezilla then try restoring the image file onto a virtual server, but that’s going to require another site visit)

It’s a satellite office that has devoured enough of my time this year but not virtualizing this old white box leaves me short one tick mark on that bedpost! (If ya know what I’m saying!)

I’d appreciate any recomendations.
