Scenario:
Windows desktop user logs in to the Windows domain and is authenticated by Windows Active Directory. The same user then lauches a Citrix session to connect to an application running on a Windows Citrix server and is authenticated using Windows passthrough authentication. The application then connects to a remote Oracle 10.2.0.3 database on Linux using database authentication (i.e. a database userid and password).
Question:
What technical options are available to me for switching to external authentication using Windows A.D. at the database level in this scenario? I’d like for my application user to NOT have to explicitly pass a userid and password to the database for database authentication.
It appears that windows client to windows oracle db external authentication setup is fairly simple, but my impression is that this is not the case for a windows client/linux oracle database combination. My impression is that I must either 1) use the OID product to interface with Windows A.D. or 2) use the solution outlined in Metalink note: 331252.1. I’d be interested to know if anyone has setup external auth of an Oracle / linux db with Windows A.D. and how they went about it?
