Configuring listener.ora

This is regarding Oracle 10g networking. On the server side I had configured listener.ora. and on the client side I had configured tnsnames.ora, but when I started listener.ora I got an error: tns name is incorrect. Could u please explain to me how to configure on Linux? Software/Hardware used:...
