OpenOffice 2.2.1 Calc SEARCH() function bug

I believe I understand how OpenOffice Calc's SEARCH() function works, but, =SEARCH(";";M2) always results in #VALUE!, even if cell M2 contains the text "Some;Text". This would seem to be a bug in OpenOffice 2.2.1. Is it corrected in more recent releases of OOo?
