I am attempting to migrate a VERY OLD FTP server running on NT 4 (IIS4) to new hardware running 2003 R2. I am currently using local accounts on both servers as these are not connected to our AD environment. I am able to migrate the IIS FTP sites but am needing to migrate the corresponding NT accounts to 2003 accounts along with the directory structure. I am hoping somone has been through this, albeit likely a long time ago, and can remember the steps/tools they used to successfully migrate. ADMT does not work for local accounts, only for domain accounts.

Does anyone know of a tool to migrate both FTP sites and NT accounts? IISExportUtility only migrates the FTP sites. originally thinking I had the tool to migrate the FTP portion of the server from NT 4′s IIS 4 to Win 2003 IIS 6 using the IISExport Utility from ADSOnline. As it turns out, this tool does not migrate the users accounts nor the directory structure of the virtual sites so account passwords and directory security is broken after the migration. Is there a way to export the NT 4 local accounts to a CSV and import into 2003? The CSVDE tool speaks only to AD accounts from what I have read. I am considering multiple free tools to do this and also the ServerMigrator from WinZero. It appears as though Microsoft IIS 6.0 Migrator does not work for FTP.

An all-in-one solution would be ideal but it is looking more and more that this might be a muti-step and multi-tool project.

[strong]So far I can address the following[/strong]:

import the directory structure from old to new

import the virtual FTP sites and map them to the new directory structure using the ADSOnline IISExport Utility

[strong]Still need to address[/strong]

- the export and import of user accounts with passwords preferably

- applying new securty to new directory structure. Trying to avoid creating a script to calcs the directories but might do as a last resort.

Any detailed solutions are greatly appreciated. Cheers Jeff
