Can I use switches to extend my network? What is the limit of how far I can physically extend it? We are using Cat6 and gigabit.

i have Netgear FSM726 and Netgear GS724TS fixed in different locations and connected with Fiber link port, the issue is both the switches are not communicating, i cant connect systems on both other side. can anybdy help

I recently aquired a Cisco 3500xl switch and have 0 experience setting switches up. I’ve been searching the nets for a few days trying to find a simple tutorial for setting this switch up for a home network. I don’t need to create separate VLans or do anything complicated. I basically want to set it up as a smart hub with PCs connected through the switch to eachother and a cable/DSL modem. Can anyone provide or point me to a simple setup tutorial? Thanks in advance.

Hello there,

How can I restrict internet access to my employees around (30) and what I mean by internet access are protocols http and https but allow them at the same time from connecting to the server and thus, being able to open their emial (I have an exchange server on another netowrk in another country) The goal of all of this is to restrict them from using the internet but allow them to manage their email on outlook. The switch is a Cisco catalyst 3750 series POE -48.

I have a modem connected to ASA. I maybe have to create access lists and/or vlans. How about do I do that? let’s say I want to block a certain port as a test first what is the proper configeration for the entire process?

Please I’m not a hight tech person. HELP ME!!

D-link des3526 switch configuration, can only ping one of two servers.

Port assigned for vlan1 is 1 to 25, port assigned for vlan2
is 26. I could ping gateway or browse
internet from vlan1. But from vlan2 I can not ping or browse.

I’ve been given a Cisco 3500 XL Switch. Question is what can i do with it? I was hoping to split the ports into VLAN’s for a start preparing for CCNA exams. Up to now I’ve mainly done book work. I want to get my ‘hands dirty’. Is this a manageble switch …? – i dont know. I’ve tried Consoling into it..using ‘PUTTY’ . ‘sh and en (show and enable )doesnt work’ . config so far: I’ve been given a Cisco 3500 XL config. Question is what ca i do with it?
