Batch ftp text line
Because this is (apparently) specific to the i ftp client, you can create a kind of extension through the use of the “!” FTP subcommand. Create a CL program that accepts a single *CHAR (50) parm. The only executable statement will be RETURN. Then create a FTPCOMMENT *CMD with a single *CHAR (50) PARM and [...]

Cannot access shared folders remotely
I would try to see if I can connect to the server itself by \MyPC and see all the shares on the system that you are allowed to see. If you see the MyFolder share then I would look at the permissions.

Uploading data on intranet by making shared folder
Basically you need to create a webpage in your intranet site that uploads files to a folder then all you need to do is share that folder to your users. Programming the upload page isn’t that hard. You can follow this MSDN tutorial just to get a hang of it. You need to install [...]

Blocking Torrent application to save bandwidth
I have successfully used packet shapers in the past to do just this. There are free solutions but most do not do packet inspection as mentioned by carlosdl. Though they can be very expensive they may be less expensive than the cost to increase your bandwidth. Bluecoat systems as an excellent product as well as [...]

Simple solutions for tracking Wi-Fi networks in an office environment?
I’m not sure you can easily keep wi-fi under control in the enviroment you describe. If there are open, unsecured networks near yours, it would be very difficult to keep your client computers from connecting to those networks. One of the best ways to stop this would be to require all your company’s computers to [...]

Security concerns around .11n Networking?
These are two different things. 802.11x is related to network security and 802.11n refers to the communications between wireless devices. In other words, you can implement 802.11x on an 802.11n network, but you do not have to use 802.11x to use an 802.11n network. Per Wikipedia: 802.11N IEEE 802.11n is an amendment to IEEE [...]

Wired versus Wireless: Are we ready to cut the cord?
I would agree that wireless isn’t quite ready for all uses. If you have highly sensitive data, it’s never a good idea to send it over the air via a radio – that’s never as secure as sending it via wires. WLANs are also just not as fast as wires. .11n is pretty quick – [...]
