=========================================== PLEASE, look again at the comment of Saturno from 27 of July, 2011 – caveat lector ! Unfortunately, only the question author can mark it as an approved answer – I can’t! =========================================== two ways of doing so. 1) make an entry in the host file of system as 127.0.0.1. E.g : gmail.com 127.0.0.1 [...]

I don’t think 2008 can do that. If this 2008 server is acting as a gateway/proxy server, you can configure internet policies in your ISA settings. If not, you need to setup a mirroring port in your switch and setup an internet filtering program(ie: WFilter, websense) to do the job.
I am making an assumption that you are authenticated to the share. If so there are two solutions. 1. No modifications to the system. 1.a. Open an elevated command 1.b. Authenticate to your resource. 1.c. Run exlorer.exe from the elevated command prompt. Note: This can have issues if it is the same as your logged [...]
Hello Emiljo, This question was already answered <a href=”http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/itanswers/return-loss-error-on-fluke/”>here</a>. Even so, you might be willing to read<a href=”http://www.testmart.com/webdata/appnote/263.pdf”> this document</a> form Microtest. This doc. among others, helped me and my team some years ago (97/98) to start certifying our first structured cabling installations. HTH
You need to provide a little more info about this issue. - Do you have free leases to allocate in the scope this specific client is in? (Check event log on the server to see if there is any messages related) - Do you have some kind of MAC address filtering in place (<a href=”http://blogs.technet.com/b/teamdhcp/archive/2007/10/03/dhcp-server-callout-dll-for-mac-address-based-filtering.aspx”>DHCP [...]
You can look at the open source software called “Open Source Ticket Request System” which would give you what you should want. Link: http://otrs.org/ ————————————– <a href=”http://www.bugzilla.org/”>Bugzilla </a>is another popular ticketing system. Whilst not free, I would recommend <a href=”http://www.focalscope.com”>FocalScope</a>. It is great for us because it offers email routing & group management tools which [...]
Hi, i would send you the configurations hopefully by tomorrow.
I believe what you’re looking to use is the Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), but this requires the use of two routers.
Yep, sure did. Picked up one for me and one for the wife (got the bigger one for $150 each). Waiting for the hackers to get Android onto the devices which should just be a few more days.
I did extensive testing on Vista connecting to SOHO type routers when Vista first came out. Vista changed how the DHCP client works and caused many headaches for people. My guess on the issue is a failure to obtain an IP address from the DHCP service of the router. Check on your Vista system to [...]
What I have found, when researching this issue for myself, is that, in order to see a username other than “anonymous” in RealVNC, you have to change the authentication type on the client side (vnc server side) to use “Windows Password” instead of “VNC Password”.
Hello Guardian, I personally don’t know Quest’s Foglight, but even so a got to the product page to learn a little about it. It seems to be free to up to 100 device. If it fits your environment, I would give it a try… If you want, try <a href=”http://www.mikrotik.com/thedude.php”>The Dude</a>. It is a completely [...]
Hello Guynu78, The answer to your question is: Probably yes. That question depends on your / your costumer configuration, and the point of view. The type of tunnel you are using to create the VPN – PPTP or L2TP – also determines the level of security and anonymity of your VPN. (L2TP being more secure) [...]
There is a solution that I think you would find suitable if the distance is within spec. I found a <a href=”http://www.networktechinc.com/vga-extender.html”><b>company</b></a> that sells a distribution system for linking up to 16 displays @ 500 feet away. Cat5 Ethernet cable would bring the video signal from the Server room and would connect to the main [...]
There is a <b>Ridiculous</b> amount of books on both of these subjects. Could you narrow your focus at all? If you are just looking for basic overview type of material, I would suggest CompTIA A+ and Comptia Netword+ study guides from Sybex. They are usually very thorough without being too dry and should give you [...]
If the IP Phone is cisco, then the switch needs to POE, to support IP Phone power, workstations and IP Phone 100 is a small network, use 3 cisco 3560G-48PS switches to support. . . . Switches need to configure the data VLAN and voice VLAN, so save the switch interface, an interface connect IP [...]
If you are worried about security, take a look at using VPN. It is safer that remote connection. Here are the steps for remote connection 1. On your router, go to either security or services depends on the model, forward port 3389 to the local list of IP addresses or (one server) / PCs that [...]
No it’s not required, but it does make things a lot easier. If you don’t you can setup a service like dyndns.com which allows for public dynamic DNS registration. Then setup a CNAME DNS entry on your public DNS for VPN.MyCompany.COM to point to the name that you setup for dyndns.com. Then have your employees [...]
