My name is Barry Novack I am with CBE Tex Solutions Consultants. We are representatives of The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation or S.P.J.A. We are trying to improve their wireless capabilities at the LA Convention Center. They would like to upgrade to newer equipment and be able to upload, and change events, or programs in real time to their Anime website, during the conference. However, due to topology setup and building restrictions, the company doesn’t have a method in place, that meets their expectations. They also want to implement RFID in order to provide more detailed demographic information, for their industry. Their goals: are to upgrade to newer equipment that is more efficient, save money and time on resources, if possible have hot spots during conferences, and events for attendees, and improve throughput and performance. If you could give us any input from you companies experience as to what hardware is needed and required, to work with RFID, what standard of 802.11 would you recommend with estimation on how much you think it would cost? It would have to support 674 staff members. The convention center had very think re-enforce concrete walls that are running two T1 lines between two buildings. One Ti line is used for registration, the other line is used for Internet access for their staff members to communicate on the Internet. We have been trying to get blueprints, or schematics of the two building and their dimensions, from S.P.J.A with no luck so far. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks Barry Novack Cell 619 991-9108

I am trying to set up guest access of 802.11 wireless access points. My IAS policy puts domain computers into vlan1 and on the AP they show “Forwarding Allowed”. I have set up a policy which recognises the mac address of my test guest and on the event log this is shown as a successful authorisation. However on the AP “Forwarding allowed” for this machine is shown as “false” and although the machine is put into the correct vlan it does not allow it to pick up a dhcp address or, if given a fixed IP address, ping other parts of the network.

This is a weird one and I don’t know what to make of it or what next steps to take to troubleshoot it:

Basically, my WiFi NIC has all of a sudden started blocking port 443 (SSL). I have a Dell Inspiron 300m laptop (running Windows XP Pro SP2) with a TrueMobile 1300 WLAN card; earlier today it started refusing to connect to anything that requires SSL (web sites as well as my Cisco VPN client). I confirmed that this is not a problem on my router (connecting the laptop to it directly via Ethernet works just fine); plugging in an external WiFi card also works. I have tried uninstaling and reinstalling the driver to no avail. What am I missing?
