How can I move files into a Windows My document folder without having to use the export function? When I try dragging into the folder that I want it in, it become sa text file instead. Also, when using the export function it defaults every time to My Documents instead of changing the defauult to the folder that is deeper within My Documents that I just saved the previous file to. Thanks!

Problem accessing the Desktop and My Documents using Roaming Profiles / Redirects

I am having problems with users that have folder redirects and roaming profiles in a Windows 2003 domain. While using the program Nikon Picture Project v1.5, the software will not transfer the pictures to any folder on the “desktop” or in “my documents.” It will allow the user to create a folder within its “browse” function however, but will not allow access to them.

The “Desktop” path is: \\ntserverredirectvariabledesktop

I can copy them by going directly to the drive letter on the camera and copy/paste them to the folders on the desktop. Does the program not have access to the users redirected folder? I’m kind of stuck here…

Any ideas?

Redirecting Folders to Server in multi-location environment

The scenario:

I have clients that have two locations. Location A has Windows SBS 2K3. Location B has Windows Home Server. I have Windows SyncToy updating the user folders so they are the same for each share on each server.

Users login at workstations at both locations. I need to have users login and use the local server folder for their My Documents redirection regardless of their location, due to the small pipe (DSL with VPN).

Is there any way to make it so that when a user logs in at location A, they use the folder redirection for location A, conversely, if the smae user logs in at location B, they use the folder redirection for location B?

I am thinking that I have been contemplating this solution long enough that I have over-analyized this problem and am no longer thinking of the “simple” solution!

Why will the My documents folder will not display on the XP pro sp2 desktop. Also when you go open a program and there is a list of locations on the side my documents is not listed on an unamed folder in its place.
