• Can’t hear other people with my smartphone headset

I have put on a headset on my phone however I cannot just pick the phone up without the headset or when I finally do, the people cannot hear me. I don't know how to solve this problem. Sometimes I would like to pick up the phone to call without the headset. Any suggestions?
