Hi. Here’s my problem.

1- I have a shared folder on Windows Server 2003 that has Full Control (read/write) NTFS permissions for Everyone.

2- This folder is actually accessible for writing for every users.

3- On one particular computer running Windows XP SP2 (on which nothing has changed lately for all I know) the folder is now read-only. I try different users on that computer and it’s still read-only. I try the same users from any other computer and it’s accessible for writing.

The problem appeared for excel files but I tried .txt files and it’s the same. The folder is read-only but only from one specific computer in the network!!!

The Indexing Service is off. The folder isn’t open in an explorer windows : I open it directly from a program or a shortcut.
I tried with the antivirus off.
The windows firewall is off.
It was working two days ago. I didn’t install or modify anything in the meantime.

I searched the web for an answer and found nothing.
Anyone has an idea?

We
have 13 stations in our office, 12 in the laboratory, both running Windows XP
SP2 ( i think) and a LAN connection in the laboratory but a dedicated line with
a dedicated IP address in our office. (That just mean, its a completely two
different network available).I want to be able to have a database server for
this matter in order for me to manage our resource database and i am not sure
the specs for a server to sit in our network and where would be appropriate?
Another matter is that, I am on the midst of requesting new stations WINS7 OS
for training & office matter, meanwhile MAC OS for editing purposes, for
all the stations in our labs. With this, im hoping that how would i seperate
two diff station but in a same network, however the office and training
stations are only allowed to be stationed with the database server, and on the
other hand, the MAC OS would only be allowed with its storage server.A helping
hand is indeed in need. As far as computer sake knows, Im just a lil bit
confuse with setting up a dbase server in the network (and just mean I have to
purchase a database station for this)?? Greatly appreciated for ones who is
helping..

I have a peculiar problem ! I have written a PHP code which based on session tracking. Basically, The PHP code is for, if a user open an IE when he/she log in and after successful, he/she never log in from the same computer using IE till log out. But whenever I try there is a session error shown in IE. IE version is 6. After work around I got there r some bugs in IE6 for session tracking/errors. I got an alternative way. If I use Firefox or IE7 or upgrade the SP2 to SP3 the problem is solved. I have more or less 250 users, so it is not possible to provide the alternative solution to all users. Because, maximum users r using Windows XP SP2 with IE6. I am looking for a solution, please help me.

Thanks–
