I am plagued by an
“ekrn.dll error ” message frequently in Win XP. i believe it is
something to do with the ESET NOD32 Anti Virus I run on the PC. I run
the same anti virus program on Win 7 with no problems.

I am also getting an “svchost.dll” error message each time I shutdown or restart Windows. Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I recently saw a conversation on Twitter about the bad rep that Windows Vista had from the get-go, even though Microsoft eventually fixed the bugs. Which of the recent Windows operating systems has your company used/liked/despised? For someone shopping the available Windows operating systems, what would you recommend or warn against?

Windows XP maintaining performance levels

I’m looking to develop a process that will help to maintain the performance levels of the windows xp machines in our enterprise. I support about 250 windows xp computers, so ideally i’d like to automate this process. often times users complain that their pcs are “slow.” often times i will just image a new computer and switch out their old one. however, this is less than ideal as this process can take quite a bit of time. any insight would be greatly appreciated !

Flashing Monitor and Slow CPU speed

I am currently working on a computer that was put together by a local computer shop. The two problems that existed were that the monitor is constantly flashing (almost so fast that you can’t notice unless you really concentrate) and the speed seemed to be terrible. The computer is only a year old and in this time has had the power supply and motherboard replaced. The power, surge protector and monitor all seem to be fine when tested in controlled environment. I tried reinstalling windows XP and upgrading from a 512 RAM card to a 2 GB DDR2 but neither of these things have helped.

The sytem information is as follows: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.21 GHz 1.87 GB RAM. It has a Gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2 motherboard. Running Windows XP Home edition with almost no significant software installed.

If anyone has a possible suggestion on what could be causing these problems and how i might come to a solution I would be very greatful.

I have a windows xp pro system that was working fine last week but now when I try to access files or open some programs it is taking anywhere from 20 to 60 seconds to open.
