Go into the Control Panel, from there, go to Power settings and change the settings for when you close the lid to have the system stay on. Save the settings and you should be fine.
You should be able to put your flash drive into any USB port on your PC. As to capacity, I believe that is controlled on the flash drive not a limit with the PC
