ASP.NET performance degradation
Hi, Not sure if this helps, but could it be that you are using Session variables that are not getting killed after use? I’m wondering if this could be the problem. I built a large web-based intranet app for a client using Asp.Net on Win 2003 Server with SQL 2000 backend on separate machine. The [...]

V4R4M0 to V5R3M0
Hi, You can’t just put a 4.4 savsys onto a 5.3 system. If this is an i5 you will need to migrate over the pieces. There are good instructions in appendix D of the Backup and Recovery guide.

Wireless Networks Interfering with Unix Servers
UNIX usually is more “thick-skinned” than that. Maybe there are other issues with the UNIX server. Remote possibility that the new access point is also a DHCP server which conflicts with a UNIX DHCP server. You can only have one per segment.

Could you give us some particulars for your servers? For instance, what post-sp6a hotfixes are installed on the server? What service pack is installed for Exchange 5.5? What hotfixes are installed on top of that? Knowing those things will help us determine the possible cause(s) of your issue.

Drive letter issue in 2003 terminal server application
Hi, I’m assuming that you have contacted the application vendor to confirm the inability to map drive C:. Since this is the standard drive letter for a system partition, it seems a little silly to force it to be mapped to a network share. Any chance of knowing the applciation that is causing you the [...]

A Group Policy can be created to limit the functionality of IE. If you are using a Windows 2000 Active Directory you will need to download an update to get this functionality to control IE. If you are using Windows 2003 the policies will already exist. Assigning the policy is the next step. You can [...]

Sendig Mail to user@IP
As best as I can tell, you can’t send mail to a user@ip address (I’ve tried it) — the mail daemon does not resolve the host that way. Now, you might consider pointing your SMTP to set the server referred to in your MX record to be your upstream host, but beyond that, I don’t [...]

Can you transfer active jobs to another subsystem?
Hi Yes. The TFRJOB and TFRBCHJOB will transfer the job to the subsystem that the “new” job queue is active in. At one place I worked, the QINTER subsystem would be taken down during maintenance periods and those of us allowed to continue working would use the TFRJOB to move our interactive sessions to the [...]

Damaged File In Save Operations
I could only find three references to this file — they all dealt with having a secondary language installed (and doing an upgrade) or installing a secondary langauge. If you’ve got a SupportLine contract, I would open a PMR with IBM. They should be able to guide you through recovering the file.
