Open IT Forum: Does the Windows 8 secure boot and Linux clash affect you?
Beyond what my blog post states, that Melanie referenced, even if Microsoft attempts to take out the competition, there’s a lot of legal issues that are going to (and already have) arisen. As linked in my post: http://www.zdnet.com.au/linux-users-threaten-microsoft-with-accc-339323063.htm People are already threatening to sue Microsoft for anti-trust violations if Secure Boot eliminates the Linux possibility. Provide outside access in a workgroup
My wife has a similar requirement (also under HIPAA), and Sharefile.com was a good solution. With audit trails, it is easy to find out who accessed files and when, even receiving alerts for file uploads and downloads. They offer a Sync feature that could help you manage the external aspect.

What is the best why to get started in DBA
I was in about the same situation when our System Admin/DBA left and I just inherited the job. That is a stressful way to start, but I learned fast. I did eventually get some training through an IBM business partner – after I had already done it for awhile. That actually makes sense from the [...]

Is there a GodMode for Windows XP?
All “God Mode” is, is all the options which are available in the control panel in a single screen. You can also have the “Fuzzy Puppy” mode by naming the folder “Fuzzy Puppy.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}”. So yes, Windows XP has this same feature (as does every Windows OS) it is called the control panel.

Well if it’s a fresh install then not much to be honest…. you can remove the uninstall’s for patches, etc.. compress the drive.. blah blah.
