I want to start off by saying Hi this is my first post. I’m desperate for answers and I can’t seem to find anyone that knows this question.

I have 2 Windows 2008 r2 servers.

One is Server1 and the other Server2

I have IPv6 enabled as well as IPv4
Both are set to static address 192.168.0.1. and 192.168.0.2
IPv6 is set to fd00::1 and 2

NETBIOS is DISABLED! This is where I’m confused

I try to find server2 from server1 and get a response back in IPv6 fe80%12

My question is how does it know the address just by typing server2 with Netbios disabled??

I also always get a response fe80 even with Netbios set to default.

My book I’m reading says I should receive a message indicating that the ping request could not find the host. Ipv6 by itself does not facilitate name resolution….

That said, they want me certified ASAP. I’ve looked at bootcamp sitesmaterials and frankly am more than a bit skeptical. Can anyone recommend a reputable boot camp vendor or provide an argument for going a different route in obtaining certification? I’d appreciate any input.
