I have an SQL server 2000 and when I try to delete 1 million records from a table using “delete from tablex where date < ’01/01/2006′ after 10 minutes the server reboot and no records where deleted. Does anyone know why?

I recently reinstalled Windows on a user’s computer. They were /are using WinXP Home and set their documents directory with security. I reinstalled the PC with their same user name and passwords, but they cannot open these files any longer. Is there a way to remove the security? Some of these files are very important.
