More robust options than Windows Retrospect data archiving
We are currently using Retrospect (windows version) to do both nightly backups and regular archiving of our production server. The routine archiving consists of an average of 200GB of DATA on several tapes in one catalog. We find that Retrospect may not be the most robust solution for such large data sets. However we are [...]

Can I speed up my LTO 4 daily tape backup?
Backing up servers over a 100mbps node is very very slow. Is there anything that can be done to speed this up over the existing 100mbps line? The transfers seem to be going at around 7-12mbps. The server is a Windows 2000 Advanced server and the client machines are Windows 2003 R2 servers.

LTO 5 architecture question
We have approx 10TB we backup to disk and then to LTO1 tape drive system with 4 drives. What’s the opinion on a setup with LTO5 in this enviornment. Given it’s speed should I even use disk to disk backups? Deduplication isn’t a need.
